We've written often about the fossil fuels divestment campaign (see above), in particular the University of California decision to divest after a long campaign by students and other activists. Others have since signed on, including Oxford, Cambridge, and American University, with some key pension funds considering the same step. Andrew Walzer from City College argues below that CalSTRS should join them. We strongly agree, and we endorse his position, as do colleagues. Please give his words your close attention.

You may be wondering why you're now receiving two different LACCD newsletters about sustainability, climate change, and other environmental news, SEI Reports and LACCD: Sustainably from the LACCD Energy/Utilities division. There is a lot to report on, but we hope that going forward their publication will focus on sustainable building, energy, and architectural news in the district, while we address academic, national, and international environmental stories.

We have updated our Facebook page, as it's such an easy way to reach a wide group of people and it allows us to post news and blog items faster than via our newsletter and website. Like us, friend us, share us!
